And were back...

So, i look at my last post and it is dated almost a year ago (aprl 15th 2008). I did not realise it had been that long since i had written here.

This means it has been over a year since i have shared my thoughts or used this stress relieving outlet, it also means i have been paying 14.99 for 12 months for something i have not been using. I have quite a few of those kinds of things on my account so i will shrug that off.

After ending a relationship of 4 years i really did not feel like talking much. This past year has been full of ups and downs, mostly downs but some really big ups (heh , big ups). The best thing by far is my brother and sister in law having a son: Haven James Rising: http://babyrising.com

I went to see them with my friend Dawn on the way back on our road trip to Florida, which was a great escape but i never want to drive that far again (3k miles and 53 hours, ouch)

So, good things have happened in this last year, and bad, hearts broken, babies born, friends lost, friends made, new things learned. I think i am a better person for it all but it honestly has left me tired. Tired and lonely. Living alone for the past year has certainly taken its toll on me. I have not become an introvert per se but i certainly keep a much larger inner monologue these days.

But enough of the past year, lets talk about the present and the future.

I guess the reason i am back here today is due in part to Dave Berry and part to my father. I was reading my usual news site earlier (www.fark.com) and came across a Dave Berry post from years past on skiing: http://www.miamiherald.com/living/columnists/dave-barry/story/822880.html

"Q. What do you mean by ``very fast''?
A. I mean that, because of the Theory of Relativity, after a few seconds I had traveled in time back to 1963, and was still picking up speed when I penetrated deep into the woods.

Q. How deep did you penetrate?

A. One of the trees later bore my child."

He is one hilarious man and i have been reading his books and postings for years.

After reading some of his old posts i thought of another blogger who i used to frequent but hadnt checked up on in a while, namely, my father: http://risingsrant.blogspot.com/

After catching up i realised how much i missed writing about life and those who live in it. Ive been so caught up in sending emails and commenting on facebook and chatting on gchat that i have forgotten the deeper and more permanent writing that can lead to self discovery and an early onset of carpel tunnel.

On to the present,

I am still living in Bloomfield CT in the same over priced closet sized pretentious apartment.

I still work for a large insurance company doing tech support.

I picked up a new hobby of mountain biking which i do every chance that i get, last night was spent hacking up the remmanents of my lungs from being sick all over Case mountain and my wounds licked clean by some magic hat beer made of beets and some pork loin shared by some new friends in the parking lot after riding.

All in all i cannot complain about the state of my life, yes i am a bachelor and living alone but i have a ton of great friends, a good paying job and i rarely have time to be bored.

I think that about sums it up, almost out of work and looking forward to seeing my friend Dawn from VT for a beer or two tonight and then maybe some Halo with Melissa??? i think so.

Maybe my next post wont be a year from now ;)

I know it has become kind of boring to see all of the sunset and flower pictures everywhere but i took this and saw the contrast between the sun the sky and the ocean and had to share.

Hope everyone enjoys it =)

I am really enjoying being able to take morning photos so easy now as i see the sunrise basically every morning and now i get to share it =)

Update: Can you fear me now? Good.

Can you fear me now? Good.

So it looks like all of those cellphone companies have responded to terrorism by...yup...giving in.

The Taliban have attacked around 10 cell towers and destroyed 6 completely in an effort to get the cellphone companies to shut down services after 5pm and until 7am because they are "aiding nato and american troops"

More likely , they cant keep their troops off the phone and we are taking full advantage by tracking the cellphone usage and hunting down the baddies with it.

more after the jump.

And the sun on my face

And the sun on my face
Originally uploaded by Ubiquitous Frame

I am back from vacation and so far still have not removed all of my pictures from my laptop for editing and uploading...this picture is from my drive into work this morning. Now some of you might be wondering: "why is he holding a huge dslr while driving?" to which i will answer...i am not.

While in St. Thomas i made a purchase.

Now first let me say , i borrowed my friends Olympus 770sw for my trip since i was planning on scuba diving and let me tell you , the pictures and video i got while under water are amazing.

So while in St. Thomas a few days after scuba diving i walked into a little electronics store and found they had the 1030 SW , which if im not mistaken at this point had not been released in the states. They had imported it from Japan...

So i bought it! and i love it!

This picture was taken out of my car window on the drive in about 30 minutes ago.

The picture quality dosent even come close to my slr obviously but the ease of use , compact size and virtual indestructable body make up for it.

Finally i have a camera i can take EVERYWHERE. It can be dropped from 6 and a half feet (im over 6 feet tall so this is perfect) can withstand 250 pounds of pressure (car tire anyone?) can dive to 33 feet and withstand down to 14 degrees ferenheit.

So now i have a camera for scuba , swimming , snowboarding , wake boarding , water skiing , sky diving...anything i want to do =)

In the next few days i will start posting some pictures from my vacation most likely starting with underwater shots since i am most excited about those =)
